Narrow River Kayaks was established in 1992 by the late Robert Ryder as a seasonal kayak and canoe rental business. More than twenty-five years later, Mr. Ryder’s vision is still intact and still locally owned and operated. Narrow River is one of southern New England’s premier paddle sport destinations, and with its waterfront location at the doorstep of the John H. Chafee National Wildlife Refuge, Narrow River Kayaks is here to help launch you on this truly spectacular and unique waterway by kayak, canoe or stand-up paddle board (SUP).
The Pettaquamscutt Watershed, commonly known as Narrow River, provides a number of options for paddlers of all ages and abilities. One can paddle a short distance to the beach or explore the Chafee Wildlife Refuge at Pettaquamscutt Cove. Those wishing to paddle longer distances can venture upstream to the kettle ponds and Gilbert Stuart Stream.
